The Impact of Street Art on Us

by Xavier April 2, 2022
written by Xavier

While many street artists are motivated by ego, others have political and social concerns. While political and social issues are not the only reasons for graffiti, it is still an important aspect of our contemporary society. Whether we like it or not, our daily lives are shaped by street art. In the past, if you walked down a city street, you’d see a piece of graffiti that would make you feel good about the city you live in.

Today, street art has become a profitable practice for street artists. Unlike traditional advertising, this method of expression gets the artist noticed, often leading to the sale of their work in gallery spaces. This is the primary benefit of this practice. Despite the challenges of commodification, the emergence of street art culture has been a boon to our urban culture. In fact, the growth of street art has been directly linked to the growth of cafes and retail shops in urban areas.

The impact of street art on us is largely due to its ability to change the landscape of a city

Because street art culture is free of charge, public spaces can become a place for creative expression. In addition, the presence of street art may attract shoppers. While it is important to be vigilant when it comes to graffiti, the police force in the East End is laxer in removing it. The result is a huge increase in street art, and authorities are increasingly appreciative of its aesthetic and economic benefits.

The impact of street art culture on us continues to evolve

It can help revitalize a city by helping to turn it into a vibrant and dynamic place. It has also helped public officials legitimize urban art in many countries, including Chicago and Rio Vermelho, Brazil. Moreover, the presence of this type of art has improved the perception of the city to tourists. The impact of street arts on us has far-reaching implications.

It has become commonplace to find a piece of street art that reflects your identity. In fact, street art is one of the most popular types of art in the world. It is not only aesthetic but also functional and can help change a deteriorating area. While it is difficult to pinpoint its impact on the community, it has become an indispensable part of our society. Our streets are full of graffiti, graffitt, and graffiti, and they have been the source of inspiration for our modern world.

Moreover, street art can improve the mood of a community and improve social status. Some forms of graffiti, however, may cause damage to property and affect entire communities. The impact of street art culture on us is not only aesthetic but cultural. It is important for our mental health and our social well-being. The presence of this type of art is also important for the economy. The arts have helped to revitalize a community and bring in much-needed cash.

It is important to recognize that street art has a long history

While the earliest form of street art was graffiti, there are a variety of different styles of street art. While graffiti has traditionally been controversial, iconographic street art has a positive impact on society. It has allowed more people to express their feelings and express their discontent. It has also increased public tolerance for illegal urban arts. It has become a popular medium of expression and is growing globally.

The Intuition at a “Fuzz Gathering”: Barry McGee @ Perrotin, Paris

by Xavier February 19, 2019
written by Xavier
Barry McGee has always been a master of contracting and expanding, often in the same show, and even more so on just one painting. Space is key, dense patterns juxtaposed (hey now!) with intentional openess. Colors match and contrast. Faces appear in chaotic bursts of maze-like shapes. Surfboards are leaned against a wall all by themselves, while a giant biomporphic collage that has been his signature for decades grows from a wall like a pulsating heartbeat. It’s graffiti in theory, a sense of disorder while placement is so well-considered. McGee takes that essence of graffiti, the way we place things, they way vandalism’s disorganization has a sense of belonging, and turned it into a particularly bold career.

The Life And Musical Career Of Bob Marley

by Xavier October 15, 2017
written by Xavier

Jamaica is an amazing island and it gave use a lot of important people and celebrities. Bob Marley, the king of reggae is one of the most renowned Jamaican citizens. He was one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time and he managed to make reggae and ska more known to the public.

In this article we are going to talk about the life and the musical career of Bob Marley. Like many celebrities, he had a controversial life. Even his death was a bit controversial. Many people are still wondering what did Bob Marley die from. Keep reading to find more information about his life and career.

Robert Nesta Marley, later known as Bob Marley, was born on 6 February 1945 in St. Ann Jamaica. His father was an English captain and his mother was a Jamaican citizen. Unfortunately, his father did not play a major role in the life of Bob Marley. This is why he grew up with his mother in the rural part of Jamaica.

After he turned 12, he moved to Kingston in Trench Town which was a rough part of the town. When he lived in Kingston, Bob met a lot of singers, but he really connected with Peter Tosh and Neville Bunny Livingston. Together, they started “The Wailers”. After they had a lot of hit songs, the group split up and each one of the singers begun a solo career.

His music still speaks to thousands of people, even after decades passed since he died. The Rastafarian religion and kind of life was the one that made Bob Marley’s music so special. He decided to speak about the oppression. One of its songs even mentioned that he considers himself to be on the side of God, not on the side of black or white people.

He was and still is the pioneer of reggae music. Before him, this genre was less known, and it wasn’t very appreciated. However, until he became one of the most well-known and appreciated songwriters and singers, he faced some problems and misconceptions from all Jamaicans because of his Rastafarian religion and way of life.

Due to the fact that oppression, division, inequality, and economical problems dominated the world, he considered that he could help people through his music. His voice was finally being heard and it became the voice of the everyday woman and men. Since the Civil Right leaders were dead (Martin Luther King Jr.) or imprisoned (Nelson Mandela), the words of Bob Marley had success.

Songs like One Love gave people the strength to carry on and to fight for what it right. There are a lot of songs that made people connect and get past their differences. When he was writing those lyrics, Bob Marley believed that the world was going to change, and that race would finally become insignificant. Love and humanity were the ones that should have transcend all.

In 1977, Bob Marley was playing football in France. This was one of his biggest hobbies. However, this was also the one that caused his death. When he was playing he suffered an injury to his big toe and he ignored it for a long time.

After the toe was infected, doctors told him that he was suffering from melanoma which is a form of skin cancer. Unfortunately, Marley didn’t want to undergo surgery and have his toe amputated. He then decided to consult a Rastafarian physician. The physician wanted to cure Bob Marley with a combination of herbal remedies.

Once Bob Marley realized that the problem was not going away with herbal remedies, he decided to let doctors remove the nail bed on the big toe. Despite the fact that the operation was a success, the cancer spread all over his body. He collapsed while running and Central Park in NYC in the 1980. He then discovered that he was going to die because of the cancer.

Because there was no treatment since the cancer had spread, doctors told him to carry on with his life as usual. Bob Marley continued to spread love and peace with his songs until 1981. After his last show in Pittsburg, he spent most of his time in the hospital trying to recover but the cancer was stronger.

Even years after his death, the songs written and sang by Bob Marley are still legendary. They manage to connect people, to make them forget about their differences and to spread the love and peace all around the world. Bob Marley is a big personality in Jamaica and he received the Order of Merit postmortem.

Highlights from Frieze London 2021, Part 1

by Xavier November 19, 2016
written by Xavier
As we saw with Armory and Art Basel over the last few months, the fair business is… back in business. I myself haven’t attended a fair since Armory 2020, right as the world was set to shut down from COVID and a bit of anxiety coming into view. So a trip to London for Frieze 2021 here felt like a mini-breakthrough. And even with the vaccine and PCR protocols to get into the fair, it was, indeed, business as usual in terms of the art world showing itself to London, and here are some of the highlights.
